Education Support Program The Education Support Program is a free study support service whereby students are allocated an individual mentor to assist them whilst they study. Mentors are qualified members of the Institute who are also experienced financial services professionals. In addition to assisting with any queries that students may have regarding their studies, Mentors provide encouragement and motivation. They are also ideal for students not currently employed in the insurance industry as they can provide workplace examples and contexts for these students. However, it must be noted that Mentors are unable to help prepare assignments, provide feedback once an assignment has been written, or spend more than two hours a week assisting a student. Whilst contact is generally via email, face to face contact may occur at the Mentor’s discretion but this is not expected. Mentors To be eligible to participate in the Education Support Program applicants must meet the following criteria: be a current CIP with a membership level of Associate, Senior Associate or Fellowship have recently completed a relevant Institute Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification (or equivalent) have gained a credit or above in the module nominated for mentoring have two or more years of industry experience.
A maximum of 15 CIP points may be claimed by Mentors in any one year and one-hour of mentoring constitutes 1 CIP Point. The Education Support Program is therefore an excellent way to gain CIP points and contribute towards the maintenance of your CIP Status.
